The Marquette University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Water Quality Center are happy to host Dr. Adalberto Noyola of the Autonomous University of Mexico and President (2006-2008) of the Inter American Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (AIDIS). Dr. Noyola will speak about sustainability, sanitation and health issues in Latin America. Due to global warming, population growth, and resource overuse, there is a pressing need to adopt more sustainable technologies for global development. Drinking water treatment, waste treatment and renewable energy generation are technologies that are integral parts of the solution.

Adalberto Noyola. Dr. Noyola is Senior Researcher at the Institute of Engineering, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and President (2006-2008) of the Inter American Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (AIDIS), an international organization that advances sanitation, public health and environmental engineering in 32 countries of the Americas and the Caribbean (http://www.aidis.org.br/). Dr. Noyola is an internationally-recognized expert on environmental protection technologies. He has been or is a member of the national science councils of Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay. He received his Ph.D. with emphasis in wastewater treatment processes from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) Toulouse, France.
