Welcome to the Website of the

Aquinas and ‘the Arabs” International Working Group

(AAIWG) Seminar Series

The first series began in January 2017 with a series of five lectures by Dr Nicola Polloni of Durham University in the UK.

The second series is in the 2018-19 academic year and consists of an international seminar on Discussion 3 of al-Ghazali’s Incoherence of the Philosophers, with study of Avicenna’s metaphysics, al-Ghazali’s attack on Avicenna, and the critique of al-Ghazali by Ibn Rushd / Averroes in his Incoherence of the Incoherence.

For conditions of attendance, see the bottom of this page.

It is our intention to continue the series annually.

The format will usually allow for breaks for discussion as determined by the presenter if that is his/her preference.

Video lectures, when available, will usually be accessible before meeting but will still be played at meetings with the lecturer present for discussion.

After the event, the video will remain available in the online archive indefinitely for future study by colleagues and students.

AAIWG members interested in sharing their work in this way should contact Prof. Richard Taylor at

Richard.Taylor@Marquette.edu
