ROTATIONAL EQUILIBRIUM

Second Law of Equilibrium: Law of Rotational Equilibrium

Torque: Measure of rotational effect caused by a force applied off-center from a pivot point

Moment Arm: Perpendicular distance between line-of-action of a force and a pivot point r

Moment Arm Equation
Equilibrium: This requires that a body be in both translational and rotational equilibrium

Three Conditions for Equilibrium:

   Conditions for Equilibrium in Plane

CENTER-OF-GRAVITY

Center-of-Gravity

Location where all the weight of an object can be imagined to act

Center of Gravity

Types of Equilibrium:

Stable, unstable, and neutral. (What is the effect of a small perturbation?)
