LAB EQUIPMENT

There are two main laboratories: one for Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI), and the other for Image Analysis. The main equipment in each of these consists of:

ESPI Lab

  • Vibration-isolated optical table
  • CCD cameras, grayscale and color
  • Color image frame-grabber
  • Pneumatic load assembly
  • He-Ne lasers
  • Bifurcated fiber bundles
  • Computers and display monitors
  • Scanning spectrophotometer
  • Optical power meters
  • Standard optical components and mounts

Image Analysis Lab

  • Vibration-isolated optical table
  • CCD cameras, grayscale and color
  • Frame grabbers
  • Argon ion laser
  • He-Ne lasers
  • Video Cassette Recorder
  • View Camera (4" x 5")
  • Electronically-controlled wavelength filter (visible spectrum)
  • Microscopes
  • Computers and display monitors
  • Computer-controlled translation and rotation stages
  • Optical fibers, mounts and cleavers
  • Coherent fiber bundle (imaging)
  • Thermoplastic holocamera
  • Photographic copying stand
  • Nikon film camera system
  • Fluorescence imaging system
  • Panoramic viewing system (360 degree surround image)
  • Ultrasonic cleaner
  • Large hood for chemicals and vapors
  • Spectrum analyzer
  • Vacuum film deposition system
  • Holography system with electronic shuttering and cover drapes
  • Standard optical components and mounts
