Attendance at lectures and presentations is a serious matter. Obviously, everyone is expected to attend all class meetings.
All homework is due one week after it is assigned.
Reports on class demonstrations that require analysis are due after one week, as are reports on experiments done in the lab. All lab work will be done in Room 208 of Physics building.
There will be two exams: a midterm on Monday Feb 24 during class-time lasting 75 minutes, and a final exam given on Monday May 5 at 3:30 and lasting for two hours.
Those wishing to get graduate credit will be expected to complete a project utilizing one of the main measurement procedures presented in class. They should first submit by Monday February 24 a one-page outline of what they expect to do, then a progress report by Monday March 24. The formal report should be turned in at least one week before the end of classes, i.e., by Wednesday April 23.
Final grades will be assigned based on a weighted average of scores for homework, labs, and examinations. For undergraduate credit, Homework will be counted as 10%, Lab analysis as 20%, Exam 1 as 30%, and Final exam as 40%. Graduate credit will be based on Homework 10%, Lab analysis as 15%, Project as 20%, Exam 1 as 25%, Final exam as 30%.
