Latin and Arabic Opportunities

Latin

Students interested in learning Latin to study philosophy in the Classical, Medieval, Renaissance or Early Modern (and later) traditions should be aware of the opportunities in Milwaukee.

(i) Fr Reginald Foster, former Latinist to the Pope, continues to offer intensive (6 days a week!) summer Latin 2 June - 26 July 2014.

I believe some basic knowledge of Latin is required to enroll but those interested should write to Fr Foster. See these websites:

http://thelatinlanguage.org/aestiva-milvauchiae-latinitas-mmxiv/

and http://thelatinlanguage.org.

There is no cost but only truly dedicated students are admitted.

Fr Foster also has very advanced courses for those who already know Latin well.

Fr Foster is also available for private tutoring during the academic year. For information, see the websites indicated above.

(ii) On the MU campus, Prof. Beall in Fall 2014 will offer a ‘crash course’ in Latin  (LATI 6204) MWF 9 am.

  1. (iii)I will have a text reading group in the Spring semester with weekly meetings for those who want to advance in reading after taking Prof. Beall’s course.
