Our laboratory contributes to the ALPHA Collaboration at CERN, where we trap antihydrogen atoms to test fundamental symmetries and study the behavior of antimatter. Marquette undergraduate students regularly participate in this international effort.




Modern physics depends on custom instrumentation. Students in my laboratory design diagnostics, build vacuum systems, evaluate new materials, and develop hardware for experiments at CERN.




Undergraduate students are collaborators on every project. They build equipment, write software, present at conferences, and take data at CERN.




Physics also helps solve practical problems. My group develops computational models of buildings and geothermal systems to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.




Science should be accessible to everyone. Through demonstrations, museum exhibits, and the Plasma Pop-Up, we share the excitement of plasma physics with the public.
