Software
In addition to textbook reading, class lectures, and homework assignments, all students in the course will have to use image processing software to apply what they learn to various types of images.  The suggested software programs (all of which are free) are ScionImage, ImageTool, and/or Image/J.   Generally, for course work, students will be expected to use Image/J.

Image/J:              http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/index.html                This is also usable over the net as an applet.
ScionImage:        http://www.scioncorp.com/                          You have to register for this one, but it's free.
        ImageTool:          http://pacer.uthscsa.edu/dig/itdesc.html
NIH-Image:          http://rsb.info.nih.gov/nih-image/index.html   You need a Mac for this program.

Reading
All are responsible for assigned material in the course textbook.

Homework
All homework assignments are due one week after they are assigned.  Completed assignments can be submitted in class or emailed to  Don.Matthys@marquette.edu.  Please include either EECE226 or PHYS198 in the subject line of any emails which pertain to class matters.

Exams
Two exams are scheduled: a midterm on Monday, Feb. 26, during class time, and the final on Monday, May 7, from 3:30 - 5:30 pm.  However, depending on circumstances, some or all of either or both of these exams may be of the take-home variety, to allow use of computers and image processing techniques.  If so, all will be made clear well in advance.

Grade
The final grade will be based approximately 20% on homework, 40% on first exam, and 40% on second exam.
